WMG / WorldEnd: What Do You Do at the End of the World? Are You Busy? Will You Save Us?

Go To

The Visitors originally came from earth.
  • Why else would they create an entire race of beings that look like Pac-Man?
  • It would explain why the culture seems so similar to earth’s. The written language in story is also genuine French instead of some made up fantasy language. The setting of the world was likely intended to be similar to fantasy series from earth.

Willem is not as average as he claims to be.
  • By his own estimation Willem was at best a mediocre brave who really had no business fighting alongside much more talented individuals. However, his fellow braves spoke of him in awe and even Lillia was impressed by his ability to keep up.
  • There’s also the fact that his ability to tune swords was literally unheard of in the setting. In one side story it’s mentioned that tuning usually required a team of skilled mages working in a specialized workshop. Yet Willem can do the same thing by himself out in the field. These are swords that literally turn fate itself into power by the way.
  • Then there’s Nil’s offer for Willem to become a Visitor at the end of the series. This doesn’t seem like something you can offer to a normal individual.

The 17 Beasts are sentient and are gradually learning to work together to destroy the islands.
  • We saw this during the failed defense of the island in volume 2. The Winged Guard was expecting to fight only Timere but a second beast somehow managed to hitch a ride on the Timere’s spores. This unexpected attack forced them to sink the island in desperation.
  • Only Timere can reach the islands, so another beast using the Timere to reach them means that they’ve likely realized Timere aren’t enough to destroy the islands. If it weren’t for Chtholly decimating the Timere in volume 3 other similar attacks likely would have followed.
  • We’ve also seen Aurora communicate with one another in order to group up against a particularly dangerous foe, meaning communications between different types of beast are a possibility.

The other races in WorldEnd were created to keep humanity’s numbers in check.
  • The Visitors knew that if humanity grew too much they’d likely revert back to being beasts.
  • That’s why other races were created to compete with humanity. Constant warfare with other races should have kept the population down.
  • However, the creation of Kaliyons gave humans a major military advantage which allowed them to become the dominant race and expand in numbers.
  • So in a way the swords created to protect humanity only doomed them to extinction.

Island 2 is a Visitor terraforming device.
  • Island 2 is heavily implied to be some sort of Visitor artifact. It’s basically a giant floating talisman that not even Souwong can explain.
  • At one point it is called an archive of models of the primordial world. The island also has multiple environments that are somehow maintained in separate seasons from one another.
  • Thus it’s likely that what later became Island 2 was used in the Visitor’s initial terraforming project.
  • Some of Carmine’s dialogue also implies that the island is built around the Visitor’s starship. The fact that it keeps the other islands afloat suggests some form of anti gravity technology.

Magic in the traditional sense doesn’t exist in WorldEnd.
  • Magic in WorldEnd isn’t some kind of mana based energy like in other fantasy series. From what we know about talismans, it appears to work by warping reality itself. In other words magic isn’t a natural thing in WorldEnd, rather it’s an artificial construct.
  • This makes a lot of sense because the background lore of the series implies that it’s in a science fiction based universe.

The monsters in Hakaijuu are mutated or evolved beast species.
Seeing that the monsters in Hakaijuu resembled Timere, and the revelation that the Hakaijuu monsters are of alien origin, it's likely that after the discovery of WorldEnd's planet, other group of Visitors visited and unwittingly transported a beast unto another planet they found (primordial Earth), the beast then evolved to become new species such as the gigantic emperor class due to Earth's environment. The Visitors might have suppressed them until the effects wore off in present days of Hakaijuu. It would also explains why Hakaijuu's human attack force having somewhat advanced technology (researched from the Visitor’s left behinds). The Visitors might had transformed the apes into humans like in WorldEnd and played gods to many human civilisations until they decided to abandon Earth for some reason, perhaps due to what happened on WorldEnd's planet.
