Tom Ryder is going to turn out to be a Twist Villain
He's gotten involved with some shady people, hence his disappearance. He won't be the Big Bad though, rather just be an antagonistic character.

Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn is a major franchise in this world
Some things seem odd about the movie-within-a-movie, Metalstorm, at least from a real-world perspective. It's being produced by Universal Studios for a theatrical release, at a time when non-franchise movies are increasingly put on streaming services, yet it's being entrusted to a first-time director. That's a combination of traits you're unlikely to find in a real movie, especially one that isn't part of an existing IP.However, it so happens that the name "Metalstorm" technically is an existing IP, albeit in name only. The movie Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn, from 1983, is at best a cult classic in real life. But who says that has to be the case in the Fall Guy universe? Perhaps there, the original 1983 Metalstorm was a much bigger hit, spawning a franchise comparable to the likes of Star Wars. The movie-within-a-movie we see is simply the latest installment of that franchise (most likely a reboot after a long hiatus, similar to the 2009 Star Trek movie).
