Because I guess the Nintendo 64 wouldn't be able to handle their gimmick of two characters in one, so Popo will be the default costume, with Nana as an alternate. Also, it would be Truer to the Text (the game is called Ice Climber and each player controls just one of them). This comes with the additional benefit of making Squall Hammer a better up special option than Belay, fitting the three-special rule.If the Villagers get added...

- Their down special will be replaced with Isabelle's Lloid Trap — a simpler move more suitable to the Smash 64 engine than Timber, and also to have Lloid appear in some way, since there are no side specials.
