The entire short is an analogy for an abusive work environment.
The short shows Sibbie doing various bizzare, arbitrary things for Gluestick, despite the fact that she never wanted to do anything for him and simply wanted to get some lunch. The lunch could be a metaphor for any sort of long-term goal that Sibbie wants to fufill for herself, only for her manager Gluestick to continuously hold her back and divert her from her goals because he knows that once she manages to achieve what she wants, she won’t need to work under him anymore, which results in Gluestick trying to make Sibbie sacrifice something she loves for him (the bird, in this case). Gluestick’s death at the end symbolises Sibbie finally quitting her job and being free of him, able to do what she wants and finally get her Lunch.
