In keeping with the famous twist of the Series Finale of Newhart. And yes, this would mean that it was, in turn, a nested dream-within-a-dream being had by Dr. Robert Hartley.
- The fake ending in the script for the final episode had God telling Dick he has plans for him after a year. While the series came two years later instead, this could be an alternate reality from the fake ending.
