• Pop-Culture Urban Legends: In late 2014, various gaming websites reported that a Wii U sequel to the game was potentially in development after an user on a video game forum found a patent application that seemed to describe a rhythm game played on the Wii U Gamepad and speculated it could be a sequel to Wii Music. In reality, no such game is known to have been in development and the patent in question was for the Sound Test in Game & Wario.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, Wii Play had a Maestro minigame as a part of it, but for whatever reason, Nintendo decided to expand upon it, and we got this game as a result.
