• All-Star Cast: For the Live-Action TV adaptation, several Japanese high profile actors were casted. Nishijima Hidetoshi for Kakei and Uchino Seiyou for Kenji.
• Defictionalization: A cookbook featuring recipes prepared in the television drama, Official Guidebook & Recipes: What Did You Eat Yesterday? ～Shiro's Simple Recipes～ (公式ガイド＆レシピ　きのう何食べた？　～シロさんの簡単レシピ～), was published by Kodansha in April 2019. There was also an exhibition featuring sets and props from the television drama, as well as reproductions of pages from the original manga, toured Japan in 2019. The exhibition was displayed in Tokyo from June to July, Nagoya from August to September, and Osaka in September.
• The Other Darrin: Due to medical issues, Kotaro Shiga (Shiro's father) was replaced by Ryosei Tayama on Episode 11-12 in the Live-Action TV drama.
• Playing Against Type: For fans Japanese cinema and TV, Uchino Seiyou plays a different role than his usual manly macho role, playing a Camp Gay character this time.
• Playing with Character Type: Nishijima Hidetoshi plays a stoic character again, but far less cold and grumpy than most of his roles from the late 2010s.
