• The Other Marty: Natalija Nogulich was originally slated to play X, even filming her own introduction to Mulder before Steven Williams was cast for the part. Producer Paul Rabwin said in commentary that Chris Carter and the other writers felt Nogulich and David Duchovny didn't strike "the right chemistry" and was recast hence.
• You Look Familiar: Don Thompson (Henry Willig) previously played Holtzman in Season One's "Conduit", and would later play Lt. Col. Stans in Season Three's "The Walk" and an uncredited appearance in Season Five's "The Pine Bluff Variant".
