• Deleted Scene:
  • The montage of Apu getting several different hair styles, originally included three more, but they ended up being cut for time.
  • Marge apologizes to Apu's mother for Bart's Gandhi impression. Apu then walks out of the shower and Marge screams. Apu's Mother then questions Marge screaming when seeing her "husband" naked, Marge admits to doing so and goes to bed.
  • Apu's Mother thanks Marge for her hospitality only for Marge to attempt to interrupt her while she is thanking her.
• Edited for Syndication: There are two different versions of Homer's Oh, Crap! moment upon seeing Apu's mother arrive and realising he forgot to inform Marge about the plan. The original version has him yell "Oh crap, I forgot!" and the alternate cut has him just say "Uh oh."
• First Appearance: Manjula, though she had an Early-Bird Cameo during the season seven episode "Much Apu About Nothing".
• What Could Have Been:
  • Originally, the book Bart used as kindling for the sacred fire was a Bible. When Mike Scully (the showrunner at the time) realized how tasteless the joke was, the scene was re-animated so that the Bible was redrawn as a hymnal.
  • Mike Scully pitched Homer living at the Springfield Retirement Castle as an episode unto itself, but the writers found the idea couldn't sustain a whole episode and thus reworked it as the B-plot of this one.
