• First Appearance: Nelson Muntz, the Old Jewish Man, and Herman the one-armed military antique store owner. Also Janey Powell, although she has a much different design, and isn't black. And if the season had aired in the originally intended order, this would have been Grampa Abe Simpson's debut in the series proper after having originally appeared in the Tracey Ullman shorts.
• What Could Have Been: Herman was intended to have a Running Gag of a different explanation for how he lost his arm with every appearance, but sticking his arm out the school bus window ended up being the only one, and apparently solid canon until a flashback in "To Cur With Love" gave a different explanation.
