  • Outdated by Canon: Given that it's a canon divergent au written during season 2, none of the examples are egregious, but they are certainly present at times.
    • In the first chapter, Belos removes Lilith's coven brand while banishing her from the coven. As "King's Tide" reveals, Belos would never dream of doing that given that the coven brands are meant to be a death sentence, and he wants everyone on the isles dead. What's more, "For the Future" reveals that Lilith didn't have a coven brand in the first place.
    • Luz at one point notes that Eda's death is the first time she's suffered a genuine death in the family, having grown up with just herself and her mámi. The episode "Reaching Out" would establish that Luz remembers her father's death, and "Thanks to Them" shows that she was about eight or ten when it happened.
  • Schedule Slip:
    • Between Chapters 8 and 13, there were the listed hiatuses.
    • As of recent updates since Chapter 23, only one chapter is released per month. This streak ended when Chapters 28 & 29 were released in April 2023.
  • Series Hiatus: The fic went on a couple between chapters:
    • The one between Chapters 10 and 11 lasted three months from October 2021 to March 2022, Chapter 12 not being published for another four months.
    • A small one occured between chapter 24, in November of 2022, and chapter 25, in January of 2023.
    • Due to personal events in the authors' life, the series has not uploaded since July of 2023.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Since the first chapter was initially written immediately after "Agony of a Witch" and released 9 months later, Soulfyre states that they had initially planned to use the joke names Karen and Chad for Odalia and Alador, before Word of God for the show itself revealed their real names.
    • Chapter 4 was initially going to have a lengthier explanation about Necromancy, but cut it because it was an out of place exposition dump. It was inspired by the necromancy in The Dresden Files, using a drumbeat to simulate a heartbeat and being a subsection of bard magic. Soulfyre also idly ponders the idea of having Skara or Luz lead an army of zombies.
    • There was an alternate outcome for the bet of when Luz confessed to Amity in which Boscha won the pool since being around Lumity more would've given her better insight. There's two reasons why this didn't work; Gus and Emira wouldn't have taken Boscha's bet and it would've destroyed the progress she and Luz made in their friendship while undermining her putting her feelings aside for the girls' happiness.
    • The author struggled on whether or not Luz would fully lose her right arm in Chapter 32, but decided against it.
  • Word of God:
    • The events of "Separate Tides", while still happening without Luz, did occur differently: Hunter led a hunt for the selkiedomus but the outcome has no official confirmation. Sailors said that the Golden Guard was sent flying by an attack from the creature which proceeded to escape to a new, unknown location, but he claims to to have shown mercy and let the creature go.
    • Gus's excursion to the Looking Glass Graveyard has occurred despite the other events from "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" not occurring.
    • According to the notes of Chapter 30, the Collector will not appear in this fic.
  • Write What You Know: Bunion Bay is based on a mix of a beach in Texas the author's family used to visit when they were 8, and on a "rich people beach" close to where they lived, and Bunion Bay High was based on the author's own high school.
