• Executive Meddling: A positive example: Mike Michaud talked Doug Walker out of his initial bitter response towards fan backlash to the Bart's Nightmare review, feeling it wouldn't go over well.
• Reality Subtext: The framing device mirrors the fans (and Doug's) opinions about the previous week's review.
• What Could Have Been: Originally it was supposed to be Douchey McNitpick who appeared at the start of the video instead of Chester A. Bum, which would have led to the Critic indirectly aiming a Dear Negative Reader diatribe at those critical of the previous review. Doug Walker was talked out of this by his brother Rob, and Mike Michaud, who pointed out that if he had managed to provoke such a backlash simply from producing a sub-par episode, actively attacking his fanbase could well have destroyed the Nostalgia Critic's popularity outright, if not the entire website. Considering the radioactively negative backlash to Critic's review of The Wall (which did criticize his fanbase), it looks like they were right.
