- Acting for Two: The actors who play Grandma Josephine, Grandma Georgina, Grandpa George, and Candy Mallow double as Mrs. Teavee, Mrs. Gloop, Mr. Beauregarde, and the Squirrel Mistress, respectively. Mr. Know and Willy Wonka are also played by the same performer, but from the beginning those two characters are heavily implied, if not outright confirmed in-story, to be one and the same.
- Dawson Casting: As written, Charlie is the only child portrayed by an actual child, to emphasize the fact that he's the one innocent of the group. The other kids are played by adults.
