Trivia / Static-X

  • Creative Differences: The core of why Static-X went on indefinite hiatus and Wayne continued it under his name, and firmly in the "different" category. Wayne kept sliding further and further into drugs and a generally self-destructive lifestyle and was also either unwilling or unable to accept that Tera Wray was the source of basically all of his problems, and after many attempts to get him to see the light, Tony and the rest of his core circle finally gave up and accepted that their only options were to either continue to stand by him and enable his dysfunction, or cut him loose and hope that he eventually came to an epiphany on his own.
  • Rarely Performed Song: "December" is the only track off Wisconsin Death Trip that wasn't performed live at all during the original band's run. It wouldn't be performed live until Wayne Static's solo shows in 2014.
  • Refitted for Sequel: A few tracks from Project Regeneration were actually complete products that didn't make the cut from previous albums. Hollow is the biggest example of it, being recorded during the Start A War era.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: In this case, Role-Ending Felony. Tripp Eisen was fired from Static-X following his arrest for sexual assault on a minor, kidnapping, child grooming and endangering the welfare of children.
  • Troubled Production: Machine ended up causing rifts in the original lineup that would ripple throughout the band's lifespan. Wayne was said to have written the whole record himself (though how much he put in overall varies on which member you ask) and as a result, wanted the royalties to split more in his direction. This caused Koichi Fukuda to leave when recording for the album had just begun, and would be the main reason that Ken Jay would depart later on.
  • What Could Have Been: Wayne actually intended for Static-X to become a solo project from Machine onward. Obviously, he relented.
  • Working Title: Early names for the band included Drill and Static. At some point Wisconsin Death Trip could have been the name of the group itself - their label told them it was too long to be marketable as a band name, so they used it as an album title instead.
