- Recycled Script: A lot of Starsight's plot feels like a rehash of Skyward. Spensa once more joins a space force and becomes a second-in-command of a Rag Tag Bunch Of Misfits learning to fight a mysterious, unknowable enemy. Again, she starts off at the lowest rung of the social ladder and slowly gains respect of her squadmates, and again, she has to confront her own preexisting biases and how they don't match up with reality. She once more has to confront a government official who's opposed to her, while having the support of another government official on bad terms with the other one. Finally, the plot is once more resolved through Spensa using teleportation and finding out that the enemy is not as unknowable as has been assumed, though the aftermath is different.
