- Awesome, Dear Boy: Louise Fletcher's admitted this was her incentive for accepting the offer to play Vedek Winn.Fletcher: I figured if Whoopi Goldberg could do [The Next Generation], why not? It might be fun...and I loved the idea of playing a ruthless and ambitious religious leader.
- First Appearance: Of Winn and Bareil. The former would go on to be a pain in Sisko's ass for the rest of the series, while the latter would become Kira's lover.
- What Could Have Been: Neela's role was originally supposed to go to Anara, the Bajoran engineer introduced in "The Forsaken", being introduced a few episodes early to allay any suspicion from the audience. However, the producers nixed that idea, feeling that Benita Andre wasn't the "right type" to play an assassin, so she was dropped and the (conspicuously new) character of Neela was created instead.
