Trivia / SiN (1998)

Go To

  • Dueling Works: With Valve's Half-Life, also putting it in competition with Monolith's Blood II: The Chosen. It was a mixed bag for SiN, as there was nothing that could have come out at that time that would have beaten Half-Life, but it at least did slightly better than Blood II, managing not only an expansion pack but also an anime movie and a sequel. On the other hand, Monolith not only still exists (which is more than can be said for Ritual) but is also still actually making games (which was more than could be said for Valve for most of the decade after Ritual's demise).
  • Vaporware: SiN Reloaded was announced all the way back in 2020 by Nightdive Studios, but no news came from it after its announcement. Nightdive would later clarify in a tweet that the game was put in the back burner as the company was busy with other remasters, as well as the System Shock remake. They did promise more news in the future, but the remaster is not cancelled.
  • What Could Have Been: There were plans for a "SiN Source" that would have ported the original game to the Source engine, likely in the same vein as Half-Life Source. Something in this vein would eventually come to fruition with SiN Reloaded, a Nightdive Studios remaster of the game on the Kex Engine.
