Trivia / Pipo De Clown

Go To

  • The Danza: Petra was played by Petra Barnard in the original series.
  • Fake Nationality: You probably already knew this, but Klukkluk has never had a Native American actor. Herbert Koeks and Joris Gootjes are both Dutch.
  • Star-Making Role: Herbert Joeks as Klukkluk. He never stopped playing the role until his death, and he also held special performances for children in-character.
  • Throw It In!: The origin of the name 'Dikke Deur'. According to the script, the character, Klukkluk, was meant to say 'Directeur' (as in Circus Director), but his actor Herbert Joeks flubbed that line. Ever since, he's been called that by the other characters in later adaptations.

General Trivia

  • In his first appearance, Pipo was played by Cor Witschge. Originally, director Willy van Hemert asked Witschge he was willing to play a clown for three episodes. However, after the character became a national success, Cor returned to play him in all of the TV series (except the 1971 one, where he was portrayed by Cees van Oyen). Witschge passed away in 1991, with his last portrayal of Pipo being in 1980. After this, Pipo has been portrayed by Joep Dorren (1990), Raymond Kurvers (2009) and Mitch Bluaaw (2017).
