• Creator Backlash: Dennis Wilson would subsequently dismiss this album due to it's "lack of substance".
  • Mike Love was very dismissive of the album and the song that he co-wrote with Dennis (likely due in part to jealousy and partly due to the mutual hostility that existed between the two). For his part, Dennis outright stated that the title track was his least favorite on the whole album, which just so happens to be the one he wrote with Mike.
  • In fact, all the Beach Boys with the exception of Carl were fairly dismissive of the album. Brian may or may not have ever listened to it and Bruce and Al were also fairly disinterested (Bruce only taking part as a friendly favor while disliking most of the songs). In fact, there's a story that when an autograph seeker presented the album to a shocked Dennis to be signed, Carl hugged him and said, "See Dennis, people DO like it!"
