The online martial arts community has vested interest in exposing frauds and charlatans who claim to teach authentic ninjutsu but seem to be demonstrating generic martial arts or fusions of various styles, some of which are clearly non-Japanese. Several figures are known for indulging the fantasies of adolescent boys who imagine themselves as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and, for the price of $199.99, you too can learn the ancient Secrets of the Ninja.^Explanation  The Ninja-Mania of The '80s included Ninja instructional books (such as those by Ashida Kim and others) and it was also the beginning of the era of trinkets such as cheap knockoff Japanese swords and throwing star shuriken available in places like flea markets. That era was dominated not only by Ninja movies, but GI Joe, TMNT, and TV shows like Master Ninja (starring Lee Van Cleef). Due to the idiosyncrasies of the English voice dubbers (suspected to be Australian or Afrikaners attempting to effect Mid-Atlantic accents), the term "Ninja" was regularly uttered as "Ninjer". "Bullshido" is a pun on "Bullshit" and "Bushido".
