• Award Category Fraud: Will Forte won the NBR award for Best Supporting Actor, and was campaigned as such to avoid splitting votes with Bruce Dern for a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars. This is despite him playing just as important a role as Dern's in the film, with the story largely focusing on the two's relationship growing with one another. This was an Invoked Trope, as the producers didn't want to have the two leads fighting each other during the Awards season.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: A Colour version of the movie was shown on Epix, despite Alexander Payne's wishes, but only shown as a 'limited engagement.', so unless you recorded it, you're stuck with it in black and white.
