- Creator Backlash: M.A. Larson has indicated in a podcast interview and (now deleted) tweets that he wasn't happy with how this episode came out, due to him being handed a premise he didn't even like in the first place, feeling as if it was too mean-spirited. He also knew from the beginning that the episode would infuriate fans of the series and make them feel like they were being attacked, but the higher-ups wouldn't let him do it any other way.
- Executive Meddling: The suits at Hasbro were the ones who came up with the premise for this episode. M.A. Larson knew that it was going to feel like an attack to the fans, and even wrote an alternate version where things were less mean-spirited, but the higher-ups forced him to go through with the episode.
- What Could Have Been: M.A. Larson came up with a different version of this episode, which would've been a Pinkie Pie story where the town ponies learn not to attack the author of a work.
