• What Could Have Been:
  • The original X himself was going to be the Big Bad, and not just some copy. Presumably after having to deal with the Maverick uprising all by himself for over a hundred years, he would have snapped and Jumped Off The Slippery Slope in the name of protecting humans. The Big Bad being a copy instead was literally a last month decision, and done because it was felt X being a villain wouldn't sit well with the kids who played the X series games where he was the hero. In the final product, the original does mention that he came close to losing himself in the time between series, but never actually went the Fallen Hero route and instead took himself out of commission to prevent it from happening (as well as deal with the Dark Elf), necessitating the creation of Copy X.
  • Ciel was originally drafted as a cyborg.
  • Ciel had designs for a player character role, specifically as a Cyber-Elf-using mage-type character.
  • "Harpuia" was originally meant to be the name of the character's swords.
  • During Hanumachine's attack on the resistance base, Ciel was originally going to be captured and replaced by the Rainbow Devil acting as a fake Ciel until it would reveal it's true identity in Area X who would talk differently from Ciel and would give out missions that would put the resistance at a disadvantage. The idea was discarded due to the developers feeling that, as a new character, players might not notice if Ciel acted unlike her, and some of the ideas of how the fake would get in the way, like preventing the player from saving their game, were not good in terms of gameplay.
