• What Could Have Been: He originally wrote "...Baby One More Time" for TLC, but they had issues with the lyrics, and they were on hiatus at the time in any case. Simon Cowell wanted the song so badly for his boy band Five that after hearing Martin's demo of it, he attempted to bribe him with an expensive Mercedes-Benz in exchange for giving him the song. Martin refused and offered up "Bye Bye Bye" instead. Unfortunately for 5ive, they hated the demo and that song became *NSYNC's Signature Song.
