• Focus Group Ending: Test audiences who were waiting to see Elvis Presley in his first movie were not happy at all that his character, Clint, died at the end, so a new ending was shot of Clint, as if from heaven, superimposed over the ending of the movie singing a reprise of the title song.
• Romance on the Set: Averted - though Presley did develop a crush on co-star Debra Paget, it was unrequited because she was seeing Howard Hughes at the time.
• Star-Making Role: This was the movie that launched Elvis Presley's film career, even though he just had a supporting role in it.
• Those Two Actors: Richard Egan and Debra Paget had previously appeared together in Demetrius and the Gladiators.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, this was written as a straight drama. Songs were added to the movie when Presley was cast to cash in on his popularity.
• Working Title: The Reno Brothers, which was changed to promote the title song performed by Presley.
