Trivia / Jimmie Rodgers

Go To

  • Breakthrough Hit: Blue Yodel No 1 (T is for Texas). He had a couple of modest hits before it but this song was what brought him to stardom.
  • Breakup Breakout: Rodgers performed with a band called the Tenneva Ramblers prior to the Bristol Sessions. They broke up before their audition leaving Rodgers to audition as a solo act. Rodgers ended up with a successful and influential career while not much is known about the Ramblers after Rodgers left.
  • Executive Meddling: He recorded a song called Prohibition Has Done Me Wrong but it was shelved, supposedly by record producer Ralph Peer for being too controversial for its time, and the master recording was later lost.
  • Short-Lived, Big Impact: His music career only lasted about 6 years before he died. Yet, he has been cited as an influence of numerous musicians from various genres.
