• Dueling Works: The anime's first season aired around the same time as the "Mini Dora" shorts and a rebroadcast of the first season of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid that would lead up to the second season. Both shows are fantasy-based Slice of Life titles with most of the main characters having similar traits, with the characteristics of Azusa, Laika, and the slime twins being easily comparable to Kobayashi, Tohru, and Kanna.
  • There's even a possible call-out to this in the second season of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. At one point, Tohru is working at a Maid Cafe but as the chef. When she finally realizes that she's not working as maid, she freaks out but Kobayashi points out that she's best in the chef's position. Tohru responds that the chef position is best for a 'Volcanic Dragon' but not her. Laika, a red dragon that comes from a town in a volcano, has awesome cooking skills and serves as Azusa's student and the main cook for the House in the Highlands.
