• Directed by Cast Member: Much like the first movie, directed by and starring Jack Neo.
• Playing Against Type: Jack Neo's a competent and famous comedian himself, but he's a downright neglectful jerk to his onscreen sons in this one. Though the actor's comedic talents finally peers through in the scene where Steve tries bonding with Tom in a Totally Radical manner.
• Sequel in Another Medium: The film's storyline is continued in a 13-episode TV sitcom with the same title. The first movie has a TV series as well, but that one's a remake / retelling of the original movie's events.
• You Look Familiar: While the sequel revolves around an entirely new roster of characters, several actors returned in key roles:
  • As mentioned, Jack Neo who played Kwok-pin's father Mr. Liu now played Tom and Jerry's father Mr. Steven Yeo. Incidentally Shawn Lee who played Kwok-pin now plays Tom Yeo, portraying Jack Neo's onscreen son again.
  • Joshua Ang, who played Boon Hock in the first movie, portrays Lim Cheng-chai.
  • Selena Tan, who played Terry's over-bearing mother Mrs. Khoo, is the school principal.
  • Xiang Yun, who only appeared in the TV series based on the first movie, plays Mrs. Yeo.
