  • Life Imitates Art: Several instances:
    • The chatters and Chatter Protocol technology are effectively smartphones and tablet computers with the predicted eventual implementation. This ARG was written in 2003, before Apple brought these classes of devices into their own with the first iPhone in 2007 and iPad in 2010. Both types of devices existed both during and before the ARG's implementation, of course—with Microsoft producing a Windows XP-based tablet PC in 2001/2002—but until Apple's products, these devices didn't have the ubiquitous nature they do today. In 2004, the chatters seemed like outlandish speculative fiction. Now it just sounds like they didn't want to name a specific brand.
    • Speaking of chatters, there's the early scene with Rani in which she works for an entrepreneur, Trevor, to produce cheap, disposable chatters for refugees. To do this, Trevor bought a "printer/fabricator." Come 2012, and 3D printing has gone from an experimental industry technology to one that's increasingly available for consumer and hobbyist use, not to mention one seeing more and more adoption in professional sectors. It won't be long before real 3D printers can do the same kind of whole-device fabrication of the printer/fabricators seen in I Love Bees.
