  • Descended Creator: During early production, the team's video editor Melina Juergens was used as a stand-in for the protagonist Senua while they perfected their motion capture techniques. She did such a good job that she was eventually permanently cast as Senua.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: As a result of the above, Melina Juergens took up a regular exercise routine to keep up with the increasing demands of mocap performance. In doing so, she gained a bit of muscle, lost a lot of fat, and got into the best shape of her life.
  • No Budget: Ninja Theory didn't have much money to spare with this game and saved on costs by turning their conference room into a makeshift motion capture studio and shooting cut scenes with just three people instead of in a proper facility with a crew of 20. Also, much of the equipment was improvised or acquired as cheaply as possible.
  • Schedule Slip: The game was originally planned to release in 2016, but was delayed to 2017 due to development not being as fast as the team would've liked.
  • Word of God: The team went to great lengths to make sure that psychosis was depicted as accurately as possible, conducting extensive interviews with experts and people suffering from psychosis, even retooling the game when they learned that a lot of the suffering actually comes from social pressure and stigma rather than the symptoms.
