• During filming of a particular scene, Tin Kai-man was playing a corpse. For some reason, Stephen used pegs on him three times. After finishing the scene, Stephen asked Kai-man if he had felt any pain from the pegs; Kai-man replied in the affirmative. Stephen then asked Kai-man why he didn't scream. Kai-man's reply was "Because the director didn't say, 'Cut!'" Impressed by this answer, Stephen then arranged to have Kai-man in most (if not all) of his subsequent movies, with his performance as Iron Shirt in Shaolin Soccer being the most famous. This anecdote was also dramatised in King of Comedy.
