• Creator's Favorite Episode: Preston Sturges later said that he felt this film had "less wrong with it" than any other film he made.
• Executive Meddling: Sturges and his archnemesis, Paramount production chief Buddy DeSylva, clashed frequently over this film, centering on the casting of Ella Raines as Libby. DeSylva thought she was too unknown and inexperienced, and at one point the studio ordered Sturges to fire her (obviously, he refused). Things got so bad that Sturges left Paramount after filming. DeSylva edited the film against Sturges' wishes, but after a disastrous preview, the studio sheepishly called Sturges back in to do a final cut.
