• Canon Discontinuity: A fanfic and self-applied example. The author's reboot to his work made Freedom Dies With Me Broad Strokes at best to the main canon - War Lilac still exists, but her origins do not involve Traveller or Blade at all.
• Creator Backlash: The author has gone on record a few times stating that he does not look back too fondly on the story, citing that it fell into the trap of focusing too much on the OC (in this case The Traveller) rather than the journey of the supposed main character, alongside writing, pacing and characterisation gripes. His announcement of Splatoon - Crimson Gaze firmly revealed that part of the story was to fix the errors made in Freedom Dies With Me.
