  • Ascended Fanon:
    • Maya's hair colour was originally dark blonde, though her appearance was never described in detail in the story around the time of her introduction. Due to a mistake, the author mentioned her as having brown hair towards WildlingKing, who continued to create a drawing of her based on said description, therefore giving her brown hair in the process. The author liked this look so much that he decided to keep her that way. Shortly afterwards, her appearance was described for the first time, with her brown hair explicitly mentioned.
    • An older drawing by another reader still depicts her with dark blonde hair though. That said, this drawing holds yet another example of this trope, as it is the first to feature Maya's dark cloak with the red runes, something the author decided to use, by having her receive this very cloak through Lord Royce as a preparation for her mission in her first part after the drawing was made.
  • Bilingual Bonus: One of the characters, Durren Stallhart, has a last name that is a slightly butchered version of the german word stahlhart, meaning 'hard as steel', a fitting name for a badass Ironborn raider who is among the toughest fighters in the story.
  • Bonus Material: On top of the story itself, there's also short stories available written by the readers, from the perspective of charactery they have created, which mostly revolve around events in said characters' past. There is also a sizable gallery of character drawings and portraits, created by WildlingKing, author of the fellow interactive fanfiction Nymeria's War, as well as the occasional fanart done by other readers.
  • Creator's Favorite: The author has stated that he enjoyed writing Argella Durrandon so much that he significantly increased her role while writing Book 1 of the story. However, she is also among the more popular characters in the extended cast, so none of the readers have disapproved of her extended role so far.
  • Lying Creator: To avoid having to spoil important plot points, even just to hint at them, the author is occasionally forced to outright lie when replying to some reader comments. Though its not that he minds.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Of course, given that the story relies on readers making choices on how it should continue, there are many alternative plotlines that could have been if different choices would have ended up getting chosen. The author, LiquidChicagoTed, regularly explains the outcomes of these alternative choices at the end of each chapter.
    • There is also a number of plot points that have been changed during the writing process, largely unrelated to the choices.
      • Dairon was originally meant to survive not only Chapter 5, but the entirety of Book 1. However, this original plan included his death in the early Book 2 instead. LiquidChicagoTed realized that this planned death would be very unsatisfying and undignified for the character and would basically force him to just drag the character along for several more chapters without having a clear use to the plot anymore.
      • Similarly, Ilhan Lagoon was intended to survive for longer in the initial draft for the story. In the final story however, he was killed very quickly, in the second chapter, to prove that Harris has gone off the deep end.
      • Martin was originally planned to die in Chapter 5, in a scene not unlike his eventual death in Chapter 6. He was also intended to be the only victim of this scene.
    • Over the years, entire storylines have never made it beyond a concept phase, including some Point-of-View characters.
      • The most prominent of them would be Leonard Constantine, who was at one point intended to be a Point-of-View character of his own storyline alongside Lucas'.
      • One cut storyline would have involved Jahaer Lagoon, older brother of the abovementioned Ser Ilhan, who would travel to Raylansfair on his father's behalf to investigate why his brother was killed.
      • For a while, Leo York, Dan Ornon, Vinicus Flowers and Jenelyne were intended to become the Point-of-View characters in their storylines before being changed to supporting characters to Edrick, Sadie, Allaryn and Ysilla respectively.
