• Critical Dissonance: Despite the film receiving negative reviews from critics, it managed to do better with audiences after release. It currently holds a 6.5/10 on IMDB and an 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes compared to it's 16% critical score.
• Hire the Expert: Regarding the football scenes; it helps that director of photography Bob Scott and sound technician Rob Whitehurst were available to volunteer (both having worked for NFL Films for the majority of their careers; and the two would later work on future Sherwood Pictures films Fireproof and Courageous).
• Sleeper Hit: Despite it's release being in just 441 theaters, the film managed to open in 12th place at the domestic box office, making $1,343,537. It went on to gross $10.2 million domestically, legions above its meager $100,000 budget.
