- Executive Meddling: There's a strict mandate in place regarding the Heroes of the series across the board: namely, their likeness is off-limits. This is the reason why, rather than appear in any way like himself of Dragon Quest I, the Fallen Hero has instead devolved into a regal-looking Hoodie with his legendary weapons awkwardly wielded. Even an in-house crossover with Square-Enix like Itadaki Street isn't exempt from this rule, using only supporting DQ cast members. To date, only one title in gaming has gotten a special exemption from this, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
