Trivia / Dragon Ball DAIMA

Go To

  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Akira Toriyama wasn't supposed to get as involved as he did, but he got so caught up in the ideas and feedback he was giving to the crew that he ended up officially spearheading most of its story and art direction.
  • Content Leak: Before being officially announced, Daima was leaked online under its original title Dragon Ball Magic with the only plot details revealed being that Goku and the Supreme Kai would be turned into children, conveniently not mentioning anyone else.
  • Died During Production: Series creator Akira Toriyama passed away from acute subdural hematoma during the show's production, leaving it the final Dragon Ball project made with his involvement.
  • Milestone Celebration: This series was created to tie into the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball. The NYCC 2023 teaser reaffirmed this by showing a timeline of the franchise's major entries, building up to this show's Fall 2024 release.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Sanda, a prominent French animator who worked on Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, was one of the earliest people to announce their involvement in this series. They note how much of a "dream come true" to work on a Dragon Ball property and its associated staff.
  • Staff-Created Fan Work: Hours after the series was officially revealed at NYCC 2023, animator Sanda drew fan art of the youthful Goku and Supreme Kai Shin from this series.
  • Swan Song: This will be the final Dragon Ball production to have any involvement from the original creator Akira Toriyama, and one of his final works as a whole, due to his tragic passing from acute subdural hematoma during its production.
  • Working Title: Dragon Ball Magic was the tentative internal title for the series. As revealed in the NYCC 2023 panel by producer Akio Iyoku, the finalized Daima title was very last minute.
