- Follow the Leader: Crazy Claws often gets compared to two cartoon predecessors for a few reasons although these are similarities that are being followed but still very much altered.
- Given Tex Avery's involvement with the lead character on the show some comparisons are made between Crazy Claws and Screwy Squirrel. As two characters who enjoy putting their enemies through all kinds of hurt. Although Crazy's more laid back snarking is a bit different from Screwy.
- Also given that the setting of the show is in a wildlife park, comparisons are made to Yogi Bear as there is a park and there is a ranger the main character interacts with. But while Yogi has the steal picnic basket angle going for him, Crazy is just out for his own fun and games and will sass anyone.
- The trapper's diminutive height and deep, throaty voice bring to mind Yosemite Sam, created by Avery's old Termite Terrace cohort Friz Freleng.
