• Real Life Writes the Plot: Despite being a logical Breaking Bad character to appear on the spinoff (due to the prequel timeline and his role with the Albuquerque DEA), there are a variety of reasons why it took so long for Hank Schrader to cross over. Dean Norris was initially uninterested in reprising the role during the early stages of Saul, feeling that the Breaking Bad story was complete (plus his schedule became booked with Under the Dome). Peter Gould was also initially reluctant to use Hank's character after his creator Vince Gilligan's departure from the Writers Room partway through the series.
• Role Reprise: Dean Norris and Steven Michael Quezada reprise their roles as Special Agents Hank Schrader and Steve Gomez, respectively.
• Throw It In!: Mike stepping on the gangbanger he beats up as he's walking away was improvised by Jonathan Banks.
