• Blooper: Adama puts down the printout and takes off his glasses twice before he talks to Lee on Colonial One.
• Real-Life Relative: Giana, the second woman who wins a seat on the Raptor, is played by Lymari Nadal, Edward James Olmos's wife.
• Throw It In!: Of a sort. When Tricia Helfer asked what Six's motivation was in the scene where she snaps the baby's neck, she was told to play it any way she wanted, and chose to portray it as a Mercy Kill.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The opening with the Armistice Officer was envisioned to show him being promoted and aging through the years, going from lieutenant to colonel while the pictures on the desk steadily show his girlfriend and then family. This is why the character is played by a younger actor in ageing makeup rather than an older actor. Because the final cut only showed the actor in ageing makeup, the series was able to use the same actor again later in a different role.
  • Originally, the Twelve Colonies were nation-states on a single planet, Kobol, rather than twelve separate planets colonized by settlers from Kobol thousands of years ago.
