• Creator Breakdown: Adam Reed mentioned in one interview that he started writing the season soon after some extensive reconstructive surgery on his shoulder, and described the writing process as more or less "typing with one hand while watching the clock to see how soon he could take another painkiller," and suspected writing the season in that frame of mind might have contributed to the season's notably Darker and Edgier tone.
