Trivia / Apotheosis (MHA)

• Creator Backlash: Lord Wolfe has stated his disappointment with the quality of the original Chapter 35, most of this disappointment coming from Mirio and Izuku's first meeting not being portrayed how he wanted it to, on top of Izuku figuring out that Mirio was All Might's successor, which was a plot point that was supposed to come up much later. Lord Wolfe ended up deleting and rewriting the entire chapter as a result, with the only content from the original kept in being the beginning flashback portion.
• What Could Have Been: The original idea for Apotheosis was much different. Originally, Izuku would have built the Infinity Gauntlet alongside Melissa Shield, who would have been a Love Interest for him, only for her to die during the I-Island attack. This would result in Izuku forming a vigilante group alongside Stain, Dabi, Uraraka, and Shinso. The team would fight both Heroes and Villains, the Shie Hassaikai would be major antagonists, and Izuku and Ochako would become love interests down the road. Lord Wolfe would end up dropping the idea and reworking it into Apotheosis for three reasons: 1. He was tried of writing romance stories and wanted to take a break from it, 2. He found the entire Love Interest subplot to be cliché, and 3. He felt as through Izuku was too sympathetic and wanted to create a more morally ambiguous Izuku.
  • The Soul Stone was originally supposed to extract a person's life force and add it to another, instead of being All for One.
  • Mei Hatsume was originally going to play little, if any role in the story. The author would end up including her after rewatching the Sports Festival arc and liking her character.
  • The Titan robots were originally from a completely different story, and were added into Apotheosis after that story was dropped.
  • While Gentle and La Brave were included in the story from the beginning, the author was thinking of dropping them out if the fanbase didn't want them to be included. After an overwhelming positive response to their inclusion, Gentle and La Brave would be kept in the story.
  • Originally, Izuku was supposed to encounter Shinso again after the latter dropped out of U.A for an unknown reason, with the implication that Izuku would then recruit Hitoshi to his side. This would end up being dropped in favor of keeping Shinso at U.A, with Izuku encountering him again at the Culture Festival.
