• Content Leak:
  • As a result of the release date change detailed below, the episode was accidentally leaked by iTunes on May 2nd, 2021, and later removed the same day.
  • A week before the above incident, an image from the episode that spoiled Polly gaining her legs circulated around online.
• Development Gag: The framing of Sprig and Grime's fight on the rooftop — being mainly a side-on view of the two and Sprig mainly dodging Grime's swings — bears a resemblance to the 'Amphibiland' promo, wherein the Proto-Sprig was depicted having a similar sword fight against Grime.
• Late Export for You: Season 2 of the show released on Disney+ in Europe on July 28th, 2021, but Italy only ended up getting "True Colors" on September 15.
• Release Date Change: The episode was pulled from its original airdate of May 1, 2021 less than eighteen hours before its planned airing due to a "scheduling shift", and was replaced with a rerun. Though it was initially theorized that this was due to the network's "Halfway to Halloween" event airing the same day (with The Ghost and Molly McGee also getting the blame), creator Matt Braly would state that wasn't the case, but didn't elaborate further. When the episode received its new airdate of May 22nd, the new promo included a Content Warning and moved the airing from the show's usual morning slot to a primetime one; Braly's tweets about the new premiere date would imply that all this was due to last-minute discussion over the episode's content and whether or not it needed to be edited. Ultimately, the only changes from the original version of the episode were the aforementioned disclaimer being put at the beginning and the addition of the season 3 opening as The Stinger confirming that Marcy had not died.
