• Deleted Scene:
  • The storyboard artist posted sketches for a scene where Anne is watching a TV show with a scene unnervingly similar to Marcy getting stabbed, and in the middle of her discomfort, her father complains that it's contrived.
  • The scene where the Plantars were finding human disguises had storyboards that were cut from the final episode. These included Polly and Sprig wearing Groucho Marx-style glasses, Anne using make-up to make Hop Pop look more like a human, and the Plantars wearing hockey masks.
• Development Gag: Mr. Boonchuy accidentally calls Amphibia "Amphibiland" before Sprig corrects him. Amphibiland was the show's original name before it got changed.
• Reality Subtext: The script was written before the COVID shutdown, but the actual production was done during it, with the quarantine song and montage deliberately leaning into it.
• Similarly Named Works: There is also a 2012 LGBTQ comedy series titled The New Normal.
