• Dawson Casting: Most of the actors who play as high schoolers were in their late twenties during the film's shooting. John Friedrich (who plays Darryl) was the youngest actor at 21 while Lee Purcell (who plays Christine) was the oldest at 31.
• Early-Bird Release: The song "Lady Lynda" by The Beach Boys can be heard during a girl's night out. That song would officially be released a year after the film's release on The Beach Boys' L.A. (Light Album) album.
