Trivia / A Koopa's Revenge

Go To

  • Development Gag: In AKR2, Word of God states every power in the game was supposed to be given through a flower. However the Brown and Purple flowers were eventually changed into a Mushroom and Feather respectively, though you can still find their original flower forms in Roulette Blocks and a Purple Flower appears blocked off in one level.
  • Dummied Out:
    • AKR2 was originally meant to span seven worlds instead of the final game's five, with the Slippy-Slidey Ice World being its own world instead of part of World 4. There were also two extra levels planned for the final world before Mario's Castle, neither of which are present in the final build.
    • This screenshot shows White-Shell Koopa going up against a scrapped ghost enemy which doesn't appear anywhere in the final game.
    • In a very early build of AKR2 which was a lot more Super Mario World-like, the Red Spiny Shell was originally capable of allowing Koopa to spin up walls with inclines on the bottom. This was removed, as the final game's engine lacks any form of sloped terrain.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: The 2.9 update of the second game replaced the babies with plumber dolls due to the depiction of the killing of babies causing the parents of younger fans to prevent them from playing it.
  • Sequel Gap: It took A Koopa's Revenge 2 six years of development before it would be released.
  • Working Title: The Updated Re Release of the first game was originally named A Koopa's Revenge: Anniversary Edition. It was later changed to A Koopa's Revenge Gold because it wasn't able to be completed in time for the anniversary.
