- Colbert Bump: While it was already one of the most well-known VCR games thanks to its association with the Star Trek franchise, Spoony's using footage from the tape for his "Experience Bij" segments helped propel it back into internet consciousness.
- Recycled Script: Kavok and his plan echo those of the Klingons from the early TNG episode "Heart of Glory", except whereas those Klingons were content to just experience a "warrior's death" for themselves, Kavok wants to turn things up to eleven by completely destroying the alliance between the Federation and Klingons, and starting an all-out war.
- What Could Have Been: A sequel called The Borg Q-Uest, which would have starred John de Lancie as Q, was in development at one point, but apparently scrapped in favor of Star Trek: Borg.
- You Look Familiar: Robert O'Reilly, who plays Kavok, also had the much better-known role of Gowron in the series proper, and later Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
