Brightspirit's Mercy is a play in the Warrior Cats franchise written by Cherith Baldry in January 2009. It was written to commemorate a Warriors fan who passed away in a tornado, Emmy Cherry.
The play was performed as a fundraiser by various high school drama students in Arkansas, and the script was available to download from the Warriors website.
The fact that Jayfeather has not yet received his full name but knows about Brightspirit places this story during the events of Long Shadows, but it is not considered to be canon.
An archive of the PDF file from the official site can be read here.
This work contains examples of:
- An Aesop: The play focuses around Brightspirit and her parents teaching the Three that the Warrior Code isn't everything. They don't really retain this later in Power of Three, though.
- Out-of-Character Moment: The somewhat more mature and serious Lionblaze enthusiastically cheering "Yay! ThunderClan's the best! We win again!"
- Protagonist Title: Brightspirit's Mercy.
- Tuckerization: Brightspirit, Shiningheart, and Braveheart are the warrior names given by fans to honor Emmy, Dana, and Jimmy Cherry. The play was performed in their hometown.
