Tear Jerker / Trillion: God of Destruction

Go To

  • The game itself starts mostly positive, with the starting deaths being mostly ignored (especially since Zeabolos appears to be all right, to their relief) but soon turns to contain massive amounts of tear jerking moments.
  • Astaroth's death is the first one, and for the player it may be at the beginning a case of We Hardly Knew Ye, but then he gets fleshed out with the memories Zeabolos and the rest of the family have of him, especially Ruche.
    • The fight between Ruche and Trillion's agent who is her father Astaroth has her saying that he is not her father and that because of him, her younger sister died. The aftermath when she wins has her crying as she kills him.
  • Levia's death is full of rage and regret, she was content with simply being one step behind Zeabolos and watching him her whole life, but being chosen as the ring holder, having all of Zeabolos' attention, and being the target of his care and attention brought her to desire more, just to fall in battle against Trillion, losing everything in the process.
  • Both Mammon and Ashmedia's deaths are lonely and regretful, with both only desiring to go back to Zeabolos' side and be with him, until their lives are taken.
  • Not only it's a very sad moment to see Ruche breaking down in tears after freeing her father from Trillion's control, but if she falls in the next battle she finally gives up in grief, and only finds comfort in not surviving to see how her world, and her beloved uncle were destroyed.
  • By the time you reach the final chapter Zeabolos has crossed the Despair Event Horizon, and even when the Tyrant ring offers him a final chance to keep the fight one last time he shows doubts in his chance of achieving victory. It's hard to blame him, since by that time it's been around two years of seeing how his whole family, his friends, and the person who brought him back from the death all fall in battle, one by one.
    • Of course you have the Game Over too, in this case Zeabolos reaches the Despair Event Horizon, and is unable to do anything to stop Trillion.
  • Sometimes it's hard to take Uriel seriously, since he's both the Butt-Monkey and a bit of a jerkass to anyone but Elma, but every so often you're reminded that he's severely depressed over the destruction of heavens and God being almost destroyed.
  • In one event you'll see Baphomet trying to force his way into one of the combat suits Faust creates, so you have minions in battle. That's pure suicide, and so everyone stops him to consider entertaining the thought, with him showing great discomfort over his inability of being of help in the current crisis.
  • Every so often you're reminded that victory will be followed by Zeabolos' soul being claimed by Faust. That is, of course, a more than reasonable prize for a real chance of defeating Trillion, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste when most ring holders show clear intent of staying with Zeabolos, even if they become Great Overlords. Mammon, Levia and Ashmedia won't even hide their romantic intentions towards him. Even their victory will leave a bitter aftertaste. Thankfully, in each of the endings the new Overlord manages to satisfy Faust's deal in such a way so Zeabolos can stay.
