Tear Jerker / 16 Wishes

Go To

  • When Abby wishes for her parents to finally understand her, and it doesn't quite come out as expected.
    • What makes it an effective tearjerker (and probably what makes it appeal to the adults watching) is that the conversation between Abby and her parents applies to a lot of people and not just those who are forced to reenact the plot of Big, especially Millennials who are probably wondering "what the hell happened?" when they finally entered/attempted to enter the work force.
  • When Abby goes to Krista's 16th Birthday party, the same party Abby is supposed to be having at the same time, and the consequent Humiliation Conga.
  • Abby and her friends dealing with the ridiculously snobby saleswoman. Frankly, it's a miracle for her that she hadn't been caught harassing the costumers and fired for it.
Saleswoman: I'm sorry. This is a store, not a playground.
    Jay: Exactly.
    Abby: I like this one.
Saleswoman: I'm sure you do. Why don't you kids come back with your parents.
    Abby: We're not kids, I'm 16.
Saleswoman: Oh, congratulations. Now give me the dress.
Abby: No, we're buying it. Jay, show her your money.
Jay: (Jay grabs the wallet when all of the sudden, his pockets were empty) My wallet!
    Saleswoman: You out!
Abby: But, no no, you can't.
Saleswoman: Watch me. (gives cue to Jay to get him to leave the store. He leaves)
    Abby: But we're customers!
Saleswoman: No, you're children! Get that dress off now!
